Danone’s Capital Expenditure (CapEx) process has faced ongoing challenges. Their CapEx approval process was built 10 to 15 years ago and was based primarily on email. The approval process provided a poor user experience, had no tracking and reporting capabilities, and was difficult to adapt to the company’s evolving workflows and business requirements. Most importantly, the approval process could not be modified to capture the company’s new “Planet” sustainability KPIs. Further, executive approvals were cumbersome due to a lack of a mobile front end. These problems led Danone to prioritize development of a new CapEx Approval process based on SAP’s BTP Cloud offering.
