SAP Conference Overview

Universal Parallel Accounting

As the complexity of the global supply chain continues to advance, enterprises are more than ever challenged with the need for transparency of their entire value chain. Simultaneously, there is a need to harmonize group and local GAAP financial requirements, directly affecting inventory valuation, transfer price/intercompany, and margin analysis. SAP has supported intercompany and parallel valuation solutions for several years; however, finance organizations continue to be challenged by sub-ledger limitations such as the material ledger, controlling, and asset accounting.

Universal Parallel Accounting (UPA) is a powerful feature in S/4HANA, providing the foundation for end-to-end value chain analysis, multiple valuation principles, multiple currencies, and margin analysis optimization. In addition, UPA is positioned as the baseline for future finance innovations such as intelligent asset accounting and even nonfinancial dimensions such as CO2 equivalents across the entire value chain.

Join this session to:

  • Overview of Universal Parallel Accounting motivation and impact
  • Gain insights into crucial use cases in parallel valuations and intercompany processes
  • Understand how to model multiple versions of accounting truth and the strategic impacts of UPA on your S/4HANA design and implementation
  • Learn about future innovation scenarios leveraging UPA
